How do you know if a website is an article?
Look for clues that tell you the article is published inside of an academic/scholarly journal:
- Go to the website or description and read the “About” or “Aims and Scope” sections.
- Is the visual appearance of the website plain, with minimal advertising and colour?
How do you format a book title in MLA?
In MLA style, source titles appear either in italics or in quotation marks:
- Italicize the title of a self-contained whole (e.g. a book, film, journal, or website).
- Use quotation marks around the title if it is part of a larger work (e.g. a chapter of a book, an article in a journal, or a page on a website).
Is it legal to link newspaper articles?
You can place links on your site to public articles on other websites. The links can contain a title, and often a brief description is fine. But you cannot post the articles on your site. This is a violation of copyright law, and you would be infringing on the copyright owners’ intellectual property.
Can I republish an article?
You can also paraphrase another article; basically write a short summary of what the article is about and why it’s important the person you feel should read it, and then link over to the original article where it is published.

Formula for citing a foreign language source in MLA: Author Last Name, Author First Name. Title in the Original Language [Translated Title]. Publisher, Year.
How do you cite a translated article?
Translated Work
- Author/editor.
- Year of translated publication (in round brackets).
- Title of book (in italics).
- Translated by …
- Place of publication: reprint publisher.
Can an article be a website?
In other words, an essay may be extremely useful (or not), but articles found here would not qualify as a published journal or magazine article. These are “web” sources of information.
