Can you still buy Cadbury Spira?
They’re no longer available to buy and haven’t been since 2005 so unless you fancy an out of date bar with its own hairdo, you’re fresh out of luck. It was replaced by the Twirl bar which wasn’t quite the same but Spira lives on as a trip down memory lane.
Why did they stop making Spiras?
Firstly, a new production process allowed chocolate to be produced in different shapes and textures without the need for moulds. Secondly, the company perceived a weakness in its product mix with too few ‘countline’ products and limited appeal to teenagers.

Another 1970s favourite made by Cadbury, Bar Six consisted of six chocolate fingers and was ideal for sharing. It was a dreamy combination of hazelnut cream, wafer and milk chocolate.
